Veneers

Veneers are thin porcelain or resin composite shells that cover discolored, worn down, chipped, broken, uneven, misaligned, or gap teeth. With proper care, a veneer can last five to ten years or longer. They require no special care outside your general dental hygiene routine. Alternatives to veneers are lumineers, bonding, and crowns.

The Process

At your American Dental Solutions consultation, your doctor will discuss with you whether or not veneers are a viable option for you. Your doctor may also take some x-rays and impressions of your mouth to prepare for the next step.

On your next visit, your doctor will remove about 1/2 millimeter of enamel, which is the thickness of the veneer. Then another impression of your teeth will be made to help create your veneers. The impressions will then be sent to American Dental Solutions’ in-house dental laboratory. It may take up to two weeks to fabricate your veneer. So in the meantime, your doctor will fit you with temporary press on veneers to cover up the already removed enamel while you wait.

Then, after the final veneers are crafted, your doctor will remove the temporary set and start the final procedure. Your doctor will press on veneer using a special cement and some techniques to bond the veneer to the tooth. When the procedure is complete, excess cement will be removed and your bite will be evaluated.

You will have a brand new, beautiful smile!
